Finding Unique Fundraising Ideas

If you are a Parent Teachers Association member, a parent of a child on a sports team, school club, or in another extracurricular activity, you are used to fundraisers. You have purchased countless cookies and trinkets, chocolates and lollypops. You have brought complicated fundraising paperwork to your office or other workplace and tried to coerce your coworkers into purchasing items from your child. To be blunt, you are sick of the usual fundraising ideas! You are ready for a change. Instead of a difficult, boring, same old fundraiser, you want an easy fundraising idea and a unique fundraising idea.

Think Outside Of The Box

The key for coming up with or finding a unique fundraising idea that is also simple is to simply think outside of the box. You do not need to rely on fundraising companies in order to make money for your organization. These companies often times sell subpar products at inflated prices, and your potential buyers know this! Most people do not buy from fundraisers because they actually want the product. Instead, they view it as a donation to the organization. You can capitalize on this by simply not selling a product in the traditional sense! Why waste money on these fundraising organizations? Often times you only get a small percentage of the money raised, so why not focus on something where you will get to keep almost all of the profits?

Service Based Fundraisers

Some of the most unique fundraising ideas are service based fundraisers. These fundraisers are also incredibly easy. Simply spread the word (via advertising or word of mouth) that your group will be mowing yards, taking leaves, cleaning garages, painting, moving furniture, etc. to raise money for their organization. You can have a flat rate or charge accordingly per job depending on the difficulty. The only downside with this is that you will have to have an adult chaperone present at each house to ensure the childrens safety. The positive aspect to this unique fundraising idea is that the children are actually physically working for their organization and will learn a lesson about hard work paying off.

Auction Fundraisers

Auction fundraisers are certainly unique fundraising ideas. With an auction, you can ask local businesses and companies to donate services or products to auction off to the highest bidder. Parents will be willing to pay more because they know that all of the money is going right into their childs organization.

If you make your fundraiser unique and simple, you can almost guarantee that you will garner more profits than traditional fundraisers!
