School Fundraising Tips And Ideas

If you are a teacher or parent member of the Parent Teachers Association (PTA), a club advisor, or a student in a club or organization in school, you most likely will come across a time when you need to do a school fundraiser. School fundraising tips from others who have already been there and done these fundraisers can be very valuable and useful tools when deciding what fundraiser to do and how to implement said fundraiser. Here are some school fundraising tips to help you in your fundraising search.

School Fundraising Tip One: Classic Works Best!

Classic fundraisers work well for schools. Parents and the community are often very willing to help support local schools, clubs, or other organizations. Most parents know that most of the time schools do not get the funding they need for all of their organizations and are therefore quick to help their child have a better school experience through school fundraising. As such, sticking with classic fundraising concepts is a great school fundraising tip. Classic fundraising opportunities include car washes, bake sales, and selling candy bars. All three of these fundraisers are tried and true and will work. There are few tips for each of these fundraisers though. A car wash fundraiser tip is to have the carwash in a very busy area. If the car wash is set up someplace where there is not much traffic, you will not do as well. When having a bake sale, set it up at a town wide event or festival. Selling candy bars works best if you have a stand set up in the school lunch room.

School Fundraising Tip Two: Include Everyone!

When fundraising for your organization, make sure that all of the students involved in the organization participate. If only one or two actively participate, you will not make as much money as you possibly could. Instead, do something that all of the students can reasonably be expected to do. For example, if you are selling candy bars in school, have each student donate part of their lunch time to sit at the table to sell. You could also have students bring the candy around their neighborhood with an adult chaperone.

School Fundraising Tip Three: Know Your Market!

Knowing what will sell best is the key in having a successful fundraiser. Any candy will sell well in a school, but for a great school fundraiser, try talking to teachers and getting your product allowed in classroom even when students are not normally permitted to eat candy. That way, students will want to purchase your product even more!
