People usually position their lamps wherever there s an outlet close by. However, you don t have to be hindered by correct lighting just because the cord won t reach. That s why they invented extension cords. There are many ways to hide extension cords so that you can position your lamps any way you want. You can, for instance, place rugs over them, run them under base boards or even place them underneath the carpeting if you have the know how. With just a little creativity, you can place your lamps however you want and still have room for other electronics, such as a computer or a TV.
When you are positioning your lamps, make sure you try them out in different locations before you go to all the trouble of hiding extension cords. Place them in an area that you think will benefit you the most and emulate doing whatever activity you plan on doing in that room. When finding the right position for your lamps, you want to keep a lookout for too much glare, too much shade caused by objects between you and the lamps as well as too much distance; a lamp does no good if it s on the complete opposite side of the room and you re trying to read or write something.
