Points to take care in installing DIY alarm system

The following points must be kept in mind while installing the DIY burglar alarm system:

– The signal strength and background noise levels in the proposed location should be checked before the devices are mounted;

– The transmitting and receiving devices should not be mounted under metal lintels placed on top of windows, doors etc. because they affect transmission of signals;

– Any wiring into the transmitters and receivers should be kept away from the aerials.

– Receivers or receiver aerials should not be mounted near to electrical distribution equipment, televisions, computer equipments or large metals.

– Make sure that the remote aerial is mounted in the correct orientation. Never clip any other cable close to the aerial or the aerial cable. Also, try not to run your aerial cable next to mains cables.

– In case of very thick walls where the signal strength is weak, the receiver or its aerial should be mounted high up in the loft.

– Survey the premises carefully before installing the detection devices.

Remote office and other value addition to Speakeasy VoIP

Speakeasy also provides a remote office feature. This allows a customer to use the VoIP service from any phone, including a cell phone. The customer even has the option to take this phone with him when he is going out of the house, and make and receive calls.
However, the customer s adapter is configured to the DSL broadband line provided by Speakeasy. It will therefore not work with other broadband lines.

Speakeasy provides several value-added features to its customers. These include voice mail, call waiting, caller ID, reach me call me facility and call forwarding to international numbers. Most of these features can be installed by accessing the web portal of Speakeasy.

A special feature of Speakeasy services is that its VoIP phones support standard 911 and E-911 emergency dialing. This was one of the drawbacks of early generation VoIP phones. However, with Speakeasy this is not the problem.
