  1. Too Cute
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I love this shoe. My 9 month old daughter is just starting to walk and she loves the shoe. They are comfortable and easy for her to get arround in. The quality is also great. All leather including the sole of the shoe. They are super cute. She gets a lot of compliment everytime she wears this shoe. Several moms have asked me where I got the shoes from. I definitely intend to buy my daughter more shoes from UMI as she grows.

  2. Well made shoes
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
These shoes are very well made. They do seem to be a little large for the size listed (Compared to other brands) They also seem wide for my lil babe, but I think she just has skinny feet! The grippers are great and I will feel very comfortable with her standing and toddling in them when she gets older. Amazing shoes for the price. You may want to consider ordering a size smaller than you think you will need, but if they are too big for now, they will just fit later, right!!!???

I like that they actually stay on my daughters feet. Very cute shoes! We got the black ones and love them.

  4. great first shoe

I ordered 3 pair before they finally fit. First pair was too large, 2nd was too small. Bought these for 6 month old when she was trying to crawl and stand. These really helped her move along. Normaly kept her in socks at daycare but she would slip and fall or pull them off. Winter is cold with no socks on laminate and hardwood flooring. Bought these in white and black. Only negative about the white leather is she had rubbed off places on the shoe within first week of wear. Would not be able to consign because of condition but would keep for 2nd child.

  5. Wonderful prewalker shoes

I try to buy the Umi brand shoes whenever they are seriously discounted (which is often on amazon). These are great little shoes. They are well made, cute, have incredibly flexible soles that still provide excellent traction (for both crawling and walking) and they stay on. There isn’t much more you can ask of an infant/toddler shoe. They do tend to run a bit wide compared to many other brands but this works well for our daughter and it should work well for most babies in cooler weather when you put them in thicker socks.

We’ve been passing along the ones our daughter grows out of to two other little girls and they’ve held up through all three babies incredibly well. Periodically I find a loose thread but it doesn’t seem to damage the integrity or appearance of the shoes and I just cut them off. We generally buy the all leather styles but we did purchase the black velvet shoes and they are designed so that the velvet doesn’t show wear. All of the places that tend to rub are leather. The lighter colors of leather do tend to scuff and show dirt but you can clean them fairly easily if it bothers you.

We’ve purchased other shoe brands for our daughter but so far they just haven’t compared in quality and functionality (even if they are cute).

  6. Adorable!

I get so many compliments on these! While they appear orange-y red on the screen, they are more pink-y red. Which is great b/c they can go with both pink and red outfits! They do run fairly small, so order the next size up, or at the least the next half size. My daughter was measured at Stride Rite just days before these arrived, and was a smidge bigger than a 3. A 3.5 size fit snugly.

  7. Great Product – Great Price

These shoes are great. Not only are they easy to put on, but the velcro strap also keeps the shoe secure and difficult for the baby to pull off. There is ample traction on the bottom and my new walker seems to do well in these shoes without any discomfort. I bought these shoes because they can be worn either casually or formally. Not to mention, you can’t beat the price. A slight negative I have about the shoes is that it’s hard to discern between which is the left and right shoe. However, I must be putting the shoes on correctly because my baby is doing great with them. My other caveat is that these have a velvet texture, so you have to be careful about water damage.

  8. LOVE IT! Better than Robeez!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased Robeez, Locaste, Bobux, and lots of other $30+ a pair shoes and I have to say this $12 UMI is my favorite! I got the red velvet one and I thought it might be too fluffy and get stained easily. But the red velvet is soft and hasn’t gotten stained yet. It looks way better than in the picture.

This pair of Umi is also incredibly easy to slip on and off. It’s also very comfortable around the ankles. And my 13 month old can’t take it off. There’s something to this pair of shoes that’s even enabled her to walk faster and make quicker turns. She can also go from a crawling position into a walking position easier too.

This Umi just replaced her Robeez Mini Shoez Infant/Toddler Trainer Sneaker, which happens to be very tight around the ankles. She even goes around the house looking for her Umi and tries to put them on herself!! She doesn’t do this with her other shoes!

  9. the cutest black shoes for baby
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I absolutely love the UMI brand. These shoes are classic but funky and perfect for my daughter’s style. She loves the feel of them and they don’t come off easily like other shoes I’ve purchased. They seem very comfortable and they also help her learn to crawl. Not recommend for new walkers because they grip the floor too easily. But for pre-walkers, the shoe is perfect.

  10. Umi shoes

These shoes are so cute! I was not quite expecting the velvety material, but they will work great for xmas too now!

I think they are true to size also. They are too big right now, but I planned it that way.

  11. cute shoes

My daughter seemed to think these were comfortable, I just wish she hadn’t outgrown them so soon. I love the soft, flexible bottoms, but sturdy enough for playing outside. We got many compliments on them from other people because the toes do look kind of like elf shoes, but I thought they were cute and different.

  12. Love these shoes

I wrote the review below for another pair of umi shoes. The only things I would add to this review for these particular shoes is that I thought they were red suede but they are actually red velvet, the edges seem to be a little crisper than the brown and pink T-strap umis and the elastic back can be harder to navigate when trying to fit a tensed-up little foot into them. Otherwise, they are pretty much the same and we really like them. They do seem to be a tiny bit roomier than the other shoe, too.

I really like this shoe. It’s just wide enough and deep enough for my daughter’s foot. They could be a little roomier, but we’re pushing the size a bit, too. She doesn’t have the chubbiest baby foot that I’ve seen so I might not chance it for a really chubby foot. The curved form of the shoe really makes walking in this shoe vs. a shoe with a flat sole much steadier. She nearly glides with these on and she can run without tripping and falling which doesn’t happen in her other non-Umi shoes. The velcro has good integrity. The padded back is comfortable. Nothing pinches or pokes. The combination of rubber nubs and leather on the sole made me question buying these but it works out just fine. The leather has worn a little but not much in proportion to how much my daughter has worn these… plus the wear is on the bottom where it doesn’t show and doesn’t impact the shoe’s performance or durability in any functional way. My only major wish is that they came in another size larger. I got the biggest size available and my daughter is pushing the size limit at 18 months old. I’ll probably keep putting them on her until they seem uncomfortable but that’ll be in the next few months I’m sure.

I’d like to have this curved sole type shoe until she’s 2 at least. I have been wearing MBTs strictly since May of 09 and they have the same “rocker bottom” sole. I’m amazed at what wearing the MBTs has done for my posture and core strength and overall balance to say nothing of taking a lot of pressure off of my knees and hips. I’d like to find more kid’s shoes that have this curved “rocker bottom” sole. It seems to make so much sense developmentally.

    I highly recommend these.
