  1. my 2 yr old son loves it!

i am not someone who usually writes reviews but, i thought i just had to share how much my two year old son loved this for his birthday! at around $70 i couldn’t beat the price and all the young girls at the birthday party said this was much neater than the ones that they had had or have. i bought some of the wooden food products to go with it and they were a hit as well. my son has a very short attention span but, has played with this toy for a very long time at once :) …oh, and i put it all together by myself in just under an hour with just a regular screwdriver :)

My 2yr old granddaughter is loving this kitchen. She prepares food for her babydoll on it & doesn’t mind that it’s not more elaborate. Plus my home is space challenged & this kitchen is nice & compact. HOWEVER, I must caution against ordering this thru Amazon. PLEASE NOTE that although the kitchen is only $51 – the seller, Bargain Market, will charge $48 for freight. Also, when mine came in, it had been shipped direct from Wal-Mart & even had the Bargain Market invoice on it, which was for $69 & NO SHIPPING charge. Just use caution where you purchase it from & keep in mind what the total cost on here will be with the sellers’ absurb freight charge !!!!

  4. Nice Kitchen for the money.

This is a nice kitchen, lots of fun & very durable but I wish that I had gotten one of the wooden kitchens instead for looks because this kitchen doesn’t mesh well in a common area like a kitchen or living room.

  5. danger!

DANGER….MY 1 YEAR OLD KEEPS OPENING THE OVEN DOOR AND CRAWLING ONTO IT, CAUSING THE ENTIRE UNIT TO FALL ON HIM. NOT VERY SAFE IN THIS INSTANCE. OTHERWISE…GREAT TOY.

  6. Cute Kitchen

compact & cute kitchen. my kids like it. one complaint, the ‘electronic’ for the stove top doesnt work w/any pot or pan but specialized ones fm Step 2. another way to suck in more consumer buying.

  7. Good choice

After searching for months to find a fun, sturdy, easy to assemble kitchen for our granddaughter, we chose the Custom Kitchen by Step 2. I read many reviews of kitchens on the Amazon website and relied heavily on these reviews when making my decision. We wanted storage space for exta “food”, pots and pans and utensils which this has with the vegetable bin and silverware drawer. One of the burners “sizzles” if the frying pan is on it or “bubbles and boils” when the stock pot is on it making it very realistic. There is a little light that shines throught the bottom of the pot so it looks like it is really cooking. The cordless phone also makes sounds. The refrigeratior isn’t very deep so you can’t store much there and the doors are a little tight so when our granddaughter opens something like the fridge or the microwave, the kitchen seems to tip just a little, but overall it is sturdy, and it was very easy to assemble. It only took Grandpa about 45 minutes and we did not hear any blustering coming from the family room! The best part though was how our granddaughter squealed in delight when she walked into the family room on Christmas! She loves this little kitchen and played with it all day long. She cooked and served and chatted on the phone while she was making us “dinner”. This was very reasonably priced too, so we added a different set of pots and pans as well as some really nice wooden refrigerator food and fruits and vegetables by Melissa and Doug. These items really made a big difference in her imaginative play. For the money it was a great value and I would highly recommend it.

  8. Assembly from hell!
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Bought the toy for my daughter’s 3rd birthday which is not until Dec. 6th. But I got so excited that i decided to put it up now. it wasn’t the most pleasant experience. Albeit the instruction sheet indicates assembly needs power drill, i thought I wouldn’t mind putting in some extra muscle into the job and just use an ordinary screw driver. I was prepared to manually put the screws in when I found out that there are NO HOLES in some areas the screws should go. And in rare instances that Step 2 remembered to drill some holes, they are not aligned!

If not for the missing and misaligned holes, assembly would be quick, easy and the instructions are clear.

my daugther hasn’t played w/ it yet because i decided to wait until I borrow my friends power tool so i just rated fun factor 4 stars.

also, this is really minor and i don’t mind. some

parts are scratched.although i don’t think my daughter would mind.

  9. I want one too!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
All the sounds and diffent things to play with it keeps my 2 year old entertained for hours! It was pretty easy to put together and it doesnt take up to much space. My daughter loves it, and all of the peices are just right for her little hands. I highly reccomend

  10. Wish it had a few more bells & whistles but fun nonetheless

We got this about 3 months ago and my 2 year old daughter loves it. The stove has one burner that makes boiling and frying noises when you put the pan and pot on it. My daughter loves this. She plays with it practically every day and doesn’t seem close to getting bored yet. The one thing I wish it did was make noise when you push on the faucet or microwave buttons. My daughter loves microwaves and keeps trying to push the buttons but nothing happens. The faucet does actually push down so I expected it to make running water noise but doesn’t really. Still it is over all a lot of fun. She’s pretty rough on it but so far no problems.

  11. Great kitchen for a pretend play
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
My 18 months old daughter just loves this. She plays pretend play as if she is the mommy cooking food in her own kitchen, like I do. She washes the dishes in the sink, puts the milk bottle (of her baby doll) in the fridge and heats up her food in the microwave and not to mention all the stirring that she does when she is cooking….something :-). She loves it and I love watching my baby enjoying her time in her own kitchen.

  12. GREAT value!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
My 3-year-old son and 4-year-old nephew each have one of these, and LOVE them. It looks very nice and doesn’t make my living room look like a play area b/c the colors are muted and pretty :) We love the look of everything, and my son loves the burner that makes sounds! As some other reviewers wrote, the drawers are kind of small but we just got a small food basket to keep near it. I like that it comes with dishes, pots, utensils, salt/pepper shakers, etc. Overall, couldn’t beat the value (we got ours on clearance at Wal-Mart for $45 at Christmas!!).

  13. Excellent

This toy is fabulous. It is realistic, well made, includes lots of extras, and helps little ones imagine. Any little child will enjoy hours of play with this one.

  14. Don’t pay the Amazon price
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The price listed for this item is 4 times what you can get it for at you local toy store. I can’t believe they would inflate the price. It is called highway robbery!
