A strong point of Guardian s services is central monitoring. The central monitoring station is tested every week to ensure that all guidelines laid down by the Underwriters laboratories are being followed. The system s signals are received through a telecommunications network that operates on high-priority, fiber-optic 800-phone lines. Whenever the system detects suspicious movement it alerts the central monitoring station, which, in turn, dispatches its security team to the site. The local authorities are also alerted to the suspected break in.
Guardian also offers a comprehensive fire protection plan for homes, called an all-points fire protection system. As part of the plan, smoke detectors are installed on every floor, in halls, stairways, bedrooms and living areas. These detectors too are monitored by a central station that alerts the local fire authorities and the home owner in case of an alarm.
